Vessels for New Worlds: A conversation on contemporary ceramics.
Jess Johnson has described the ceramic object she curated in Antireality perversion void as ‘by makers who work from the underbelly of contemporary ceramics.’ Their aesthetic sensibilities range from gothic macabre to the magical and mythological via punk. There is a sense that alternative realities or speculative future have been built through their clay making.
Join us to hear Justine Olsen, Curator Decorative Art & Design at Te Papa Tongarewa as she speaks to these works and the power ceramic objects and vessels have as containers for whole new worlds.
