Now’s the time to find your gumboots and get ready to experience life ‘down on the farm’ at Ambury Regional Park on Sunday 11 October.
Come along and enjoy a pony ride, watch sheep being shorn, feed the lambs, pet the farm animals, ride a tractor or watch the sheep dog trails – there is plenty for the whole family to do at the Auckland Regional Council’s annual Ambury Farm Day!
As well as traditional farm action, Ambury Farm Day will also feature gumboot tossing, wood chopping competitions, face painting, the Eagle Police helicopter as well as top Country and Western singers and other great entertainment acts.
Don’t forget to bring hats and sunscreen if the weather’s fine. Food and drinks will be on sale and there’s plenty of space to spread a picnic rug on the grass.
One of 26 regional parks managed by the Auckland Regional Council, Ambury Regional Park is a working farm with a variety of cattle and sheep as well as pet lambs, goats, chickens, pigs, turkeys, rabbits, and peacocks.
Ambury Regional Park is located on Ambury Road in Mangere. To get there from the west or north, exit the airport motorway at Mangere Bridge and follow signs from Mangere Bridge Township. From the east or south, take the Coronation Road exit off the airport motorway and follow signs from Miller Road.
Dogs are not permitted at Ambury Regional Park because of the threat to native birds and farm animals.
