The State Beach Series is an 18 event summer sports series taking place on Takapuna Beach on Tuesday evenings. The Series is a fun, relaxed and social event to keep fit, train for a bigger event or just enjoy a summer’s evening at the beach with your family.
Stand Up Paddle or SUP is an exciting sport and a perfect whole body and core work-out. Stand Up Paddle improves balance and co-ordination, strength, is stress reducing and invigorating and invites endurance and exploration. It is a sport that everyone can enjoy regardless of age, ability or size – and a great way to enjoy summer on the water!
The Stand Up Paddle 3000m event offers paddlers with some experience under their belts the chance to test their turning and strength skills around a triangular 3000m course. This discipline has been further broken into four categories, owing to the growing number of different sized and speed boards. There will be a slightly staggered start for these different categories but all paddlers will paddle the same course.
12'6 SUP - internationally recognised standard length race board, this category has the majority of participants in the Stand Up Paddle 3000m discipline.
14' SUP - this category is for those with the big 14' boards - ideal for the long stretches.
All categories will be timed and results will be published online each week. To be included in the Series Competition a paddler must take part in 12 or more events in the season.
The State Beach Series also offers Run (Junior 2500m and 5000m) and Swim (Junior 250m, 500m, 1000m and 1500m) events each week.
