While describing their music as ‘experimental rock’, Into Orbit’s sound runs the gamut from post-rock and soundtrack/soundscape, to metal, prog, noise and drone. They self-recorded and independently released their debut album in August 2014 to underground critical acclaim and since then have been consistently performing around New Zealand, including several headlining tours and an opening slot for German progressive metal act The Ocean.

Two years later, the duo have completed writing, and started recording a second full length album, expected to be released late 2016.

In anticipation of the upcoming new album, Into Orbit now release their single ‘Dark Matter’ along with a video clip, and will also open a pre-sale for the limited vinyl release of their 2014 debut album ‘Caverns’, due to arrive in March 2016.

A preview of the ‘Dark Matter’ video was recently shown to some artists & music journalists. Their reactions are quoted below:

Craig Hayes ( “More dazzling instrumental prowess and first-rate tension-and-release rock from the enthralling New Zealand-based guitar and drum duo Into Orbit. This time, with extra sky-high thrills via soaring drone footage on “Dark Matter”. As always, mesmerising.”

Maurice Beckett - (Jakob): “Awesome tune, great video! Watch this space."

Simon Sweetman - ( “When you watch and/or listen to Dark Matter what you see and hear and what you get - instantly - is the fact that the only thing that matters to these two guys is the music they're making and the pact they've formed. It's a sound they can trace by memory, something so deep inside their being; Dark Matter should matter to us because it matters to them. It's the sound of a band at the next stage in its evolution.”

Rigel Walshe - (Dawn of Azazel) - "Easily the most interesting band to come out of New Zealand in the last 5 years"

Matt Alexander (Wellington rock/metal vinyl DJ) - “As the name suggests, Dark Matter is THE song you'd be listening to as you fell into a black hole” … “Brooding. And ferocious"

On 27 January Dark Matter, the video clip, will go live on Youtube and the single will be made available for free streaming/download on Bandcamp.
