‘There can be little doubt that this will be a revolution. The choice, really, is about how we bring it upon ourselves.’ Climate change is happening and the potential long-term costs are incalculable. But how do we manage the short-term costs of mitigation? Join authors David Hall and Maria Bargh as they discuss whether a revolution can be ‘careful’, and how to ensure a tika transition in true partnership with Māori.

The speakers:
Dr David Hall is a writer, editor and policy researcher based in Auckland. He is the editor of A Careful Revolution and other BWB Texts. His recent policy work has focused on tree planting as a mitigation and adaptation strategy for climate change.

Maria Bargh (Te Arawa, Ngāti Awa) is Associate Professor in Te Kawa a Māui/Māori Studies Victoria University of Wellington. Her work focusses on New Zealand politics and Indigenous resource management.

A Careful Revolution, edited by David Hall, features essays by eleven authors, including Maria Bargh, on the challenges and opportunities of the low-emissions transition.
