Balloon Busters

Join the Kiwi Conservation Club for an afternoon of 'Balloon Busting'. We will be talking about the effects of balloons on our marine life, showing a short video, brainstorming on balloon alternatives and then making some of them. The focus will be on sustainable and reusable options such as windsocks, ribbon dancers, wind chimes and flax windmills, birds and fish. We'll also be blowing a few bubbles!

Please bring art supplies such as crayons or colouring pencils/pens, and any material remnants (preferably natural materials such as cotton, linen, wool or jute).

There will be tea and coffee, and fruit snacks for the children, but you may wish to bring an afternoon snack. We encourage homemade or bulk purchased food and the minimization/avoidance of food in single use plastic.

This is a free event open to all children 5 to 12 years old with parent/caregiver attendance.
