Urban Yoga is thrilled to announce founder of Bone Yoga NZ, Paul Cohen will be with us this May for a full days workshop exploring the foundations of the body - our bones!

What is Bone Yoga?
Bone Yoga is a simple and profound addition to the world of yoga. The primary focus of the practice is on releasing tension at a bone level to increase ease of mobility in our skeletal system. The slow, mindful engagement with the bones, allows the opportunity to feel and to adjust the way we move.

The Bone Yoga Sequence, which you will learn over the course of the day, is designed to provide a tool for daily practice. It curiously explores ways in which we can support smooth movement and recognise patterns that no longer serve our physical form.

Particular attention is placed on the engagement of the ligaments and fascia as we move our joints. This encourages us to become more present and relaxed, so as to support the release of physical and emotional tensions.

For many this workshop will provide a new dimension of safety and stability to a yoga practice.

The Benefits of Bone Yoga:
- Helps to reduce acute/chronic back pain/issues.
- Helps to prevent old physical patterns by discovering new ways to move.
- Helps us to become more skilful with our body/mind/breath relationship.
- Helps with relaxation.
- Helps us to let go of unnecessary tension.
- Helps us to function with more ease.
- Helps us to be more present in the world.

“Bone Yoga is a real treat to learn and practice. It is so mindful and comfortable on the body that it will suit everyone of any ability. Despite not doing much, nor stretching at all (which is a welcome and unusual approach in Yoga), I felt completely released and aligned each time after practicing. I particularly enjoyed the reset sequence, the slow asanas, and the meditations on our Inner Resource and Heart Felt Desire. It enhanced my appreciation of anatomy and Zero Balancing as well. Thank you Paul for bringing this to us.” - Andy Kidd (teacher of Contact Yoga, Pranayama and Anapana meditation; practitioner of Vinyasa, Astanga and Vinny Yoga, with 30 years’ experience).

Bone Yoga is gentle, restorative and intriguing for beginners as well as those who have been practicing for years. It will enhance your yoga practice as it invites you to explore new depths of awareness. All levels of experience and flexibility welcome. Paul will adapt his classes to support and meet the needs of the room.
