Our free Living Well programme offers practical ways of living well, building knowledge, self-confidence and self-help skills wherever you are in your cancer journey. It is a free programme suitable for anyone with any type and stage of cancer, as well as their carer or significant supporter such as spouse, partner, family or a friend.
Living Well is run by an experienced supportive care nurse with expert speakers from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Each course is tailored to meet the specific needs of the group.
Topics include:
- Understanding cancer
- Managing the side-effects of cancer treatment
- Nutrition
- Relaxation and stress management
- Looking after yourself
- Communication
Participants of the programme often report feeling less anxious, better informed and more confident after attending. One of the most valuable things about the Living Well programme is the contact you have with the other people in the group who are going through similar experiences to yourself. A light lunch is also provided.
For more information, contact supportive care nurse Andrea Youngs at our Rotorua office on 07 349 4556 or email andreayoungs@cancersociety.org.nz.
