Celebrating Colour, Clay and Creativity.
Ceramicus 2019 is Wellington Potters' Association annual showcase of contemporary ceramics by its members, held at the Academy Galleries on Queens Wharf in Wellington, in conjunction with SPLASH 2019, the national exhibition of Watercolour New Zealand.
It is a unique chance to witness a feast of colour, clay and creativity: From 2nd November until 17th November (daily from 10am to 5pm, free entry), Wellingtonians and visitors to the capital have the opportunity to view and purchase the finest pieces of ceramic art. They can vote for their favourite piece to win the People's Choice Award, while also enjoying the painting-filled walls.
This year's guest artist and selector for Ceramicus is ceramic artist Jane McCulla Ceramics. Jane creates textured, stretched, stoneware clay vessels and forms at her home-based studio in Diamond Harbour, Canterbury. She will showcase her pieces alongside new works by members of the association engaging the local community with the varied craft of ceramics.
