The Lincoln Christmas Parade has been growing year on year and this years event is expected to be bigger and better than ever. It promises to attract thousands of visitors to the township, and along with the growing population, it will certainly make for the busiest day of the year in Lincoln.

The Market gets going early and will be in full swing by 9am stretching from The Famous Grouse to The Laboratory. The main street is closed and there will be plenty of space to explore the stalls and the many food options for snacks and drinks until the parade clears the street at 10.30am.

Come and buy some Christmas presents, plants for the garden, treats for Christmas day and support the stalls that make this day possible. The Lincoln Rotary Club and the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Brigade will be running raffles. Lincoln Farmers and Craft Market will be in its normal location next to the Lincoln library, spilling out onto the green behind. Also near this area will be a bouncy castle on the grass behind the Laboratory.

The very popular decorated bikes competition will be held under the oak tree next to the Library—be there by 9.45 am for judging at 10.00 am followed by all bikes joining the parade. This year the junior buskers competition ‘Lincoln’s Got Talent’ will be held next to the Fish & Chip Shop, call Fiona on 0211423714 to register if you fancy taking part. After the parade from 11–12 noon Santa’s Grotto will be on the lawn under the walnut tree outside Selwyn Printing at 13 Gerald Street, along with the face painters.

For music we have the Ellesmere Big Band playing from 9.30 am until 12.15 pm outside the Lincoln Japanese Sushi Bar. Music in the parade will include the Woolston Junior Brass Band, the Ellesmere Highland Pipe Band, whilst the Woolston Concert Brass Band will perform at 11.30 am on the green behind the library.

Crazy clown Adam Allsorts will be entertaining the kids on Adam’s crazy bike while giving away animal balloons all around the town from 10 am till 12 noon. The parade starts at 10.30 am and many local clubs and businesses enter along with schools, kindergartens and of course Santa in his sleigh.

If you’d like to enter a float or march in the parade please email Terrence on lincoln.xmasfloats@gmail.com

Its a great day to celebrate our ‘little’ town, be proud of all our clubs and service providers and catch up with friends. Its a parade that you can get close up and personal with and wave to the people you know in the parade. We are still taking entries for Lincoln’s Got Talent, a chance for school children of all ages to show off what they can do, and there are cash prizes!

Lookout for the organising committee members who will be around the town sporting their red tee-shirts, maybe you’s like to get involved with organising next year’s event? Just ask any of the committee what is involved, you will normally find them taking some well earned refreshments in the beer garden of The Laboratory at about 2 O’Clock.
