Energise your entrepreneurial spirit and meet-up with other startup enthusiasts at our monthly coffee gathering. Entrepreneur Coffee Jam is free to the first 50 who book a ticket via Eventfinda.

Programming starts at 11:15 a.m. Hear a local entrepreneur share their journey with the audience followed by a Q&A.

In this edition of Entrepreneur Coffee Jam, we learn about the journey from startup to acquisition.

Eliot Drake is a Mechanical Engineer from MIT, trained in product design and manufacturing system design. After designing things as large as snowcats, his career turned to the small. A startup focused on eye tracking and eye interaction, and whose founding mission was enabling people with disabilities to communicate, was acquired by Google in 2016.

Until recently, he worked at Google both advancing eye-tracking technology as well as working on the design of virtual- and augmented-reality headsets. Having worked at companies with anywhere from 1 to 85,000 employees has been an invaluable part of his approach to problem solving. Recently Eliot and his small family have relocated to the district, where "what's next" is becoming more tangible each day.

Alongside Eliot, we turn the tables and ask our emcee Richard Liew, from NZ Entrepreneur Magazine to share his latest venture - Startup NZ, an online training programme designed to support entrepreneurs on their journey with the right information, inspiration and connections from day one.

The formal meeting concludes by noon, and everyone is invited to stay around from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.

Tickets: Booked via Eventfinda. Each free ticket includes a coffee.

Attire: Business casual

Networking Courtesy: Bring business cards for networking, but don’t pass them out unless asked for one. No selling of services or advertising at the event (branded company shirts, etc. acceptable).
