The Centre for Science & Citizenship Trust, in conjunction with the Nathaniel Centre, are holding a teacher professional development session at Aquinas College on May 14, on the theme of 'ethics at the beginning of life'.
Costs are $249 for the day per attending teacher, or $219 per attending teacher if there is more than one teacher registered from a school. The costs cover: the workshop day, which runs from 8.30am - 4.00pm; a workbook of resources containing relevant information for teachers; activities for critically engaging senior students with issues that affect individuals and communities in relation to a range of reproductive technologies (see attached poster). Lunch and morning tea are also provided.
The PD workshop is suited to teachers across a number of disciplines:
- Religious studies
- Social Studies
- English
- Biology
- Health
- The Arts
- Technology
- Philosophy
The workshop covers the key competencies and provides a variety of activities for inquiry-based teaching and learning.
We will engage with and unpack a neo-liberal and a Catholic perspective on the issues covered. We will also provide space for other perspectives to be raised and discussed.
