The history and development of Grahamtown/Onerahi, Whangarei.

Bring your lunch and munch while you listen to Brent Mawson talk about the development of Grahamtown/Onerahi from the arrival of the Edwards family at Waikaraka in 1859 until the dissolution of the Onerahi Board in 1957.

Brent will not only cover the more significant developments such as the railway, the regatta and the airport, but also many lesser known items of interest, hence the title From Fish Canning to Fish Farming.

Dr Brent Mawson is a retired University lecturer and administrator. He has long had an interest in local history having been a co-founder of the Whangarei District Historical Society in 1978. Brent was on the editorial team of the recently published 'True Tales of Onerahi' and is currently involved the development of the second book.
