Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

Suitable for children aged 7 - 12 years.
This holiday art workshop will run 10 AM - 3 PM on Tuesday 23 April 2019.

Come and create - make your very own crayons using different coloured soils and then create a masterpiece using your own crayons. You'll also take home your own crayons. This is an exciting activity where the children will be making their own crayons out of different coloured soils from the Auckland region.

We'll be processing soil from scratch by grinding it, sieving it, making a paste and modelling the crayons into a stick. The children will then make their own art work using these crayons and take the crayons home.

Expected learning outcomes:
- Learn facts about soil, its properties and the different types of soil
- Learn the process of making pigments and colours using soil
- Learn how to draw / paint using soft pastels

About tutor Ekarasa Doblanovic: I'm passionate about nature, art and eco art activities especially involving soils and pigments. Children's creativity never stops to amaze me.

Bring your lunch and wear mess-friendly clothes. All materials are included within the course fee.
