Leys Orchestra presents a concert of baroque music from Italy and Germany, with music by Vivaldi and Fasch.

We are pleased to feature soloist Kate Rendall playing Vivaldi's Oboe Concerto in D Minor and his Concerto for Two Flutes played by Nelly Steinemann and Christine Elder.

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi has become a household name through the worldwide popularity of his iconic "The Four Seasons", which has been performed and recorded by innumerable classical musicians, and also adapted, arranged and 'recomposed' in a multitude of various styles and genres for myriad purposes, especially commercial advertisements.

On the other hand, Johann Friedrich Fasch is not so widely known these days outside of Germany, even though his music was widely performed in his day. A contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach, he was the father of Carl Friedrich Christian Fasch, also a noted musician.

The International Fasch Society researches and promotes the music of Johann and Carl Fasch, and have held the biennial International Fasch Festival in the city of Zerbst/Anhalt since 1993.
