Flock to Flock my friends!
New Zealand's newest two day outdoor bouldering festival supported by the New Zealand Alpine Club at the one and only Flock Hill! Limited tickets, only 100 places!!! $30 for NZAC members $40 for non-members.
Event starts Saturday 7th of September with a huge day of crushing, sending all the rigs and climbing all the blocs at the bouldering competition.
Gates open at 8:30am - that's right, you heard me, you will all be able to drive in and park at the bottom of the hill cutting your approach to about 10-15 minutes to the boulders. You'll need to sign in at the bottom and then be at the boulders for a briefing at 9:30am. Climbing commences at 10am on the dot. Comp will end around 3pm with prize giving and clean up following.
The fun will then continue on at the Station down the road with a bit of a shindig and BBQ. Flock Hill have offered up the backpackers for free on Saturday night and space for tenting. First in first serve, so make sure you register a spot ASAP (only 39 beds in the backpackers).
On Sunday we will have a pine pulling competition as a way of saying thank you to Flock Hill Station for allowing the continued access of bouldering at Flock. Wilding pines are a huge pest to the farm and entire region, they are relentless and fast spreading. Flock Hill Station spends over $60,000 a year in pine control! Every pine you pull makes a difference!
Gates will open at 8:30am again with the pine pulling comp starting at 10am and ending around 2pm with prize giving and clean up following.
Important!
Please make sure you bring all your own climbing equipment including crash pads! Landings at Flock are not the best so everyone will need to spot each other and carry pads. Also please make sure to bring extra water and your brushes to clean holds after climbing and remove all tick marks.
There will be toilets at the bottom of the hill so please do not go in the boulder field.
