The official annual Wine tasting event is back at the Boathouse Nelson venue this year, in September to help you see in Spring in fine form. Always a very popular two hours, tasting some of the finest wine produced in one of New Zealand's most inspired wine regions accompanied by great gourmet treats and (new this year) the epic Bryce Wastney and his acoustic music.

“The only event which sees virtually all of Nelson's wine producers gathered under one roof in a stunning yet informal setting - a Nelson speciality. Always a fun occasion, both the Trade and Public are catered for with their own independently tailored sessions. This is the perfect occasion to get to know how we put the Nelson lifestyle and sunshine in a bottle! Will the dolphins swim by to greet us again this year?” - Paul Miles, Riwaka River Estate

Make the most of this opportunity to meet our local, award-winning winemakers and taste the excellent wines from across the Nelson Tasman region. This is complemented by music from the stunning acoustic music of Bryce Wastney, and some gourmet treats from regional artisan foodie creators!

Have a taste of all that is excellent about NZ wine, as the region produces a range of varieties exceptionally well across the two quite distinct sub wine regions of The Plains and The Hills with their own sub-climates and terroir. We're home to some of New Zealand's most inspired award winning wines, producing outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and aromatics, as well as an impressive mix of emerging varieties.

“The wines from 2019 are brilliant – the vintage was huge fun – no pressure, just great fruit.” Judy Finn, Neudorf Vineyards.

21 Wineries bringing their wines for you to enjoy:

Blackenbrook Vineyard, Brightwater Vineyards, Dunbar Estate, Flaxmore Vineyards, Greenhough Vineyard, Kahurangi Estate, Kina Cliffs Vineyard, Middle Earth Wines, Milcrest Estate Wines, Moutere Hills Vineyard, Neudorf Vineyards, Old House Vineyards, Richmond Plains, Te Mania Wines, Rimu Grove, Riwaka River Estate, Sea Level Wines, Seifried Estate, Spencer Hill Wines, Tohu Whenua Matua, Waimea Estates

Here are some Nelson Vintage 2019 did-you-knows:

- Nelson Tasman has upped it's volume in tonnes this harvest by 36%, moving us to fourth largest wine producing region, above Central Otago and one of the largest increases across the regions.

- Sauvignon Blanc has had an increase in harvest volume by 20% - an elegant, restrained expression of this variety, displaying lovely texture and minerality alongside crisp, vivacious tropical fruit with fresh herbal nuances.

- Several of the pioneers of NZ’s wine industry are still producing wine here, exporting all over the globe.

- Winemakers celebrate excellence in wine and all that’s extraordinary here in the Centre of New Zealand by producing some of NZ’s most inspired, award winning wines - with quality the focus whatever the price point.

Please note:
The venue is back to our favourite location of The Boathouse Nelson. Please arrange your own safe transport to and from the venue.
This event is strictly limited to those aged 18 years and older.
