Be part of a 4-day experiential workshop with our horses, learning about the fundamentals of the Horse Sense Model of Equine Supported Therapy.

Our emphasis is giving respect to the horses and what they bring to sessions, as well as bringing in our cultural respect for Māori and all indigenous people. We work outdoors and again this element of being in nature is one of our founding principles.

Our key learning objectives are:
- Enhancing awareness of self, others and the environment
- Experiential non-verbal interventions
- Widening therapist’s perspectives
- Use of metaphor in therapy
- Integrating tohu and client lead therapy
- Authentic cultural responsiveness

4- Day Overview:
Day 1 - Introduction to Fundamental Principles of Equine Supported Therapy
Day 2 - Language of the herd and the medicine wheel
Day 3 - Experiential verbal and non-verbal interventions
Day 4 - Integrating tohu and client lead therapy

Workshop Details:
Cost: $2500 including accommodation and lunch, (Returnees $995)
Timeframe: Four- day training, 9am – 4pm
Suitability: Professionals working in mental health (practitioners)
Requirements: No prior knowledge/ experience is necessary
Additional information: Workshops are outside with the horses. With our New Zealand summer, be prepared for 4 seasons in one day, so please bring a jacket, hat, and sunglasses as well as outdoor covered shoes.

*Additional practice opportunity.

We like to offer our training participants the opportunity to be part of a follow-on public event (18th & 19th October 2019, Upper Hutt), where they have the possibility to shadow and co-facilitate equine supported sessions in a safe environment.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Ngā mihi
The Horse Sense Team
