Prof. Boyd Swinburn – Auckland University.
Rotorua - Council Chamber – Rotorua Lakes Council, Monday 8th April, 6pm.
Free entry for members – $5 for all others, all welcome.
Two recent Lancet Commission reports vividly demonstrated how the current food systems are creating the biggest cause of ill-health and premature death in every country and also a major driver of climate change. They point to the need for the Great Intergenerational Food Transformation to achieve food systems which are healthy, sustainable, equitable and economically prosperous.
Professor Boyd Swinburn is a professor of population nutrition and global health at the University of Auckland and co-chair of the Lancet Commission on Obesity. He will discuss the implications for New Zealand of the global recommendations from these reports.
