Sophie Jean Dance Company presents The Little Prince. Performing Contemporary, Jazz and Tap dance items to tell the story of The Little Prince.

The Little Prince, tells the story of a young girl in which strict schedule is being forced upon her by her mother as she is worried for her daughters future. It is based on the French children’s novel, ‘Le Petit Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The story showcases many morals for adults and children. Whether it is not growing up too fast, being yourself, or loving others, there is something for everyone to relate to.

When she meets an old Aviator, from next door, he tells her the story of The Little Prince, allowing the Little Girl to rediscover her childhood. As the Little Prince told the Aviator, the Aviator tells the Little Girl “I am who I am and I have the need to be”. When the Aviator first tries to get the Little Girls attention, with the paper aeroplane, she tries to get back to her life plan, as to her mum's request. The Little Girl’s mother designs a plan for every “hour of the day, the day of the week, the week of the month, the month of the year, the year of your life.” This makes the Little Girl slowly lose touch with her childhood. The Aviator is not teaching her how to be an adult like her mum would have wanted, he is teaching her how to cherish her childhood before it’s gone.
