The Wanaka Community Hub has been over ten years in the making and has its Opening Day events on November 2nd. The day will start with an official community celebration in the morning, and then on the Saturday evening the Trust are holding a more intimate cocktail function for all those who have supported the building of the Hub and its philosophy. We are going to celebrate the end of the One Day Summit with the Wanaka Community Hub team. All of the proceeds for this event go towards supporting mental health initiatives in the community.

The Hub is an absolute first for Wanaka and will be a tremendous asset to the community as a whole. Understanding our community, providing connected services and enabling the building of strong community relationships is vital for a growing, thriving community. These concepts underpin all that the Community Hub offers. ONE strongly supports both the building and its philosophy and is thrilled to be able to play a part in supporting its opening during our conference weekend.

This architecturally designed building located close to the centre of town looks fantastic. It will house a large number of social services in a number of offices all under the one roof, making it much easier for the community at large to access all they require. Confirmed tenants to date include Community Networks, JP's, Volunteering Central, Jigsaw, Presbyterian Services, Anglican Family Care, Community Care Trust, Oranga Tamariki, Cancer Society, REAP, Southern DHB, Workplace First Aid - with many more finalising plans at the moment.

The Hub also offers the community two well- needed meeting rooms, a wonderful auditorium which can seat up to 150 people, and a commercial kitchen. These areas will be used by local businesses, groups, clubs, etc for conferences, Board meetings, seminars, events, music and art, and club activities etc. Interest is already very high for these spaces and bookings are in the diary for the end of this year and into 2020.

The Trust are very aware that without the support from many in the community, this project would not have been completed. The function on Saturday night is a real celebration of what community "spirit" and action can achieve - something ONE very much sees as integral to building stronger, more connected communities. We would love you to come and celebrate with us and be one of the very first to see the completed building. Ticket price includes a glass of wine or beer, and cocktail food throughout the evening and there will be a cash bar available.

The ONE Summit is a six day annual event held in the Southern Lakes District. It’s aim is to educate, inspire and enable our transition as a community and nation to a carbon zero, thriving community.

TRANSPORT TO THE EVENT - If you can, come on your BIKE, take the BUS (or ferry), CARPOOL or WALK. We’d love to keep this event as low impact as possible!
PLANT A TREE - We have two off-set partners this year, the WAKATIPU REFORESTATION TRUST and TE KAKANO AOTEAROA TRUST. Part of our profits will go to these two amazing organisations. If you want to help regenerate our incredible district, we’ve also set up a tree registry with TREES THAT COUNT. By donating to the registry, you’re putting more native trees into the ground, helping not only reduce our footprint but also providing habitat for our feathered neighbours.
DIGITAL TICKET = ZERO WASTE - We love empty bins. That’s why we kindly ask you not to print your ticket. Please keep a digital copy in your phone, or take a photo of your computer receipt. That’s all we need to see to let you in!
