If you answered yes to any of these questions then this workshop is for you. The price of the workshop will be recovered very rapidly on the savings you make once you can confidently print the perfect print, first time, every time.
Printing your own work can be useful during the image creation process as well as for delivering a completed work. Printing for yourself gives you complete control of the finished image, from the immense range of media options, to the thrill of watching the image come to life as a ‘real’ object.
In this workshop the following topics will be covered:
- Supplies, keeping stock
- Let's talk about paper
- Making your own print media
- Reading ICC profiles
- Out of gamut colours
- Edit to print; sharpening; pop; soft proofing
- Creating custom print profiles
- Custom print presets in Photoshop
- Hands on, print your own image to take home
During the workshop you will see the workflow process starting from use of a calibrated screen to colour managed output being made in front of you on a range of paper stock on a wide format archival “giclée” pigment inkjet printer. You can also bring a file or two of your own to print and take home.
The presenter of this workshop is Rachael Smith of Rahera Photography.
In Rach’s words, "I have a very curious nature, which means I am constantly open to learning. I’m an Ilford Master, Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, current member of the NZIPP Board and NZIPP Master of Photography I. I am a practicing artist, and also a student, having just started the second year of my Master of Fine Arts in Contemporary Art.
I’ve always worked with digital cameras, but I am a strong advocate of the printed image. I believe images need to be printed to close the circle from concept, to capture, through to completion. The tangibility of a print is integral in my art practice. I find the range of print media available really exciting and love testing out new products."
