The Aleister Campbell Orbitra returns to The Third Eye to deliver its first public performance since last year's sell out show in the Wellington International Jazz Festival!
The historic record states that Jimi and Miles jammed a bunch of times. Sadly, hectic touring schedules prevented the two from making any recordings. The sounds they made were lost to the ether and we’ll never know what these mythical jams might have sounded like. Never, that is, until now...
Aleister James Campbell is a guitarist and music wizard originally from the edge of the native bush up the back of Stokes Valley. Currently living back in Wellington after a long sojourn in Melbourne where he infiltrated the local jazz, blues and indie music scenes. Performing regularly with members of The Cat Empire, Hiatus Kaiyote, and even the John Farnham Band, he left a lingering impression on audiences with his passionate playing and sonic explorations.
The Orbitra reflects AjC’s love of a lush sound textures, deep grooves, and subversive improvisational caprices, bringing together a sensational cast of some of his favourite local musicians:
Bridget Kelly (Tenor Sax), John Rae (Drums), Cory Champion (Vibes, Vibraphone), Jake Baxendale (Bass Clarinet), Dayle Jellyman (Synth, Piano), Tyson Smith (Guitar, etc...), Phoebe Johnson (Bass), Blair Latham (Alto Sax), Rachelle Eastwood (flute) and Michael Taylor (Trumpet, inaudible husky vocals).
Doors open at 7pm.
Music starts at sundown - 7:14pm.
Early bird tickets come on sale this week: $17/10.
