Join artist Kathryn Tsui at The Dowse for this special workshop to create your own striking two colour wall hanging using clasp weft weaving technique.
Learn the principles of weaving, and experiment with creating a high impact design with contrasting yarns.
Open to all skill levels, all materials will be provided or feel free to bring your favourite 8ply wools.
Due to Alert Level 2 restrictions, social distancing measures will be in place and numbers are limited. Be sure to book via Eventbrite.
About the artist:
Kathryn Tsui is based in Tairua, Coromandel Peninsula and is of Chinese descent. She is a self-taught loom weaver and artist who, in recent years, has developed a practice that uses her products from the loom as a way of making a statement about some of the challenges facing our contemporary society in Aotearoa, including child poverty, environmental concerns and sustainability.
This event runs in conjunction with Ā Mua: New Lineages of Making, which features projects by more than 20 makers from throughout Aotearoa, to explore and challenge the definition of craft in Aotearoa today.
