The Haiku Reserve is the place to be on February 8th when Anna Hawkins and Friends are in town for the final summer Twilight Concert of 2020. Known for her expressive vocals and moving interpretations, New Zealand songstress Anna Hawkins crosses the great divide of classical, folk and popular music.
No stranger to the Katikati Twilight Concert stage, the audience can expect a varied night of song including a musical theatre interlude and a taste of her brand new show. Anna is excited to perform a taste of her new show, Songbirds, for the first time as she pays homage to the female singer/songwriters of the 60s and 70s who revolutionised folk music.
Anna will perform songs from the likes of Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Bobby Gentry and more. Joined by her band, Anna will perform audience favourites and an interlude of ‘songs from the stage’ supported by guests from the local Tauranga musical theatre scene. Special guest appearance by sister Lisa Grace Hawkins will wow audiences with her spine tingling voice, she will complete the evening.
Support act for this concert is Katikati’s own Murphys Lore. Formed over 20 years ago Murphy’s Lore played extensively around the BOP for many years. For the last ten years they have played the occasional charity concert and just for their own enjoyment. Specialising in Irish music they will play some popular sing-along numbers with perhaps a jig or 2 thrown in.
Members are, Julie Cunningham on Fiddle, Alistair Bennett on piano accordion, Greg Bettridge on Base and Don Wallis on guitar and vocals.
