New Years Eve In The Square 2020

Bring in the New Year with amazing entertainment and fireworks as Palmerston North hosts yet another spectacular New Year’s eve event. We are so lucky to be one of the few large events happening this year. Mark your calendar now for the biggest celebration in the Manawatu region - family style.

Mark Hazlewood is again our MC for the night. Amy McKenna, will be leading the first part of the evening supported by a number of young performers and singers, specifically for families.

There will be plenty of things to entertain your young kids to see and with our roving performers and jugglers and plenty of food and drink options provided by the regions premier food trucks. Bring some cash for glow sticks and join us in lighting up the Square. Picnic blankets and low chairs are welcome. Please note that there will be laser and stroboscopic lighting effects as well as fireworks during the event. The Square is both an alcohol and smoke-free zone and we ask you to respect this.

The incredible captain Festus McBoyle will have your kids wide-eyed and fully entertained while the amazing Highly Flammable present their new Fire and dance show right before the "kids" New Year countdown and fireworks at 9:30pm.

Kicking off the second half, "Men of Rock" will get the party started with some of the biggest songs from U2, Whitesnake, Billy Idol, and Queen. Next to our "Women of Rock" take it to another level with a wild set featuring songs from the Pretenders, Kelly Clarkson, Pat Benatar, Cheap Trick, Blondie and Stevie Nicks.

Taking you up to midnight is this year's big band, “The Icon's”. This thirteen piece band features a three-piece horn section and six singers. This band will play some of the biggest hits from Queen, Phil Collins, The Eagles, Glen Frey, Don Henley, Tom Petty, David Bowie, Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Amy Winehouse and ACDC. All this supported by a fantastic production and superb lighting. Bring on the New Year countdown and ring in this very special new year with a spectacular fireworks display. Let's celebrate the passing of a very eventful 2020.

The evening ends with fireworks at midnight to welcome in 2021 while our DJ will play music to its conclusion at 12.15
