PLAY:GROUND 2020, showcasing the very best talent from Ōtepoti and beyond in a wild mix featuring garage sales, surrealism and Te Mauri.

Ōtepoti’s own Prospect Park Productions brings you a selection of theatre works, from the ground up. Come join us at PLAY:GROUND, where we're play:ing with performances at different times of day, and at different stages of the script to stage process, in this very special offering for Dunedin Fringe 2020.

From play readings through to fully realised productions, PLAY:GROUND will showcase a prime selection of theatre talent from here and beyond.

The PLAY:GROUND 2020 programme includes:

Breakfast Readings
A fresh and fun way to begin your day. Enjoy a breakfast roll, coffee and a play reading. Each morning we're serving up a new work; across the season you'll hear from an emerging local writer, an established NZ writer, and a writer from our sister city, Edinburgh.

Theatre Performances
Direct from the Ōtepoti Theatre Lab 2019 Playwright Programme, we'll be premiering two full productions:

THIEF by Kelly Hocking
Roll up for the garage sale, snatch some priceless family drama, and get down with the 90s tracks.

TABLELAND by Simon Anderson
What if waking were sleeping? What if that fork were a spoon? Expectations in Tableland are jenga bricks, which topple - splinter - explode! - buzz? - fly?!? To leave you questioning, not just what is reality, but, what matters?

New Work Development
Be the first to experience the intimate story of TE MAURI, MUM AND ME by Julie Edwards (Ngati Whakaue, Ngati Whare) in a special one-off development showing ahead of its premiere late 2020.

Prospect Park Productions
The multi-award-winning Prospect Park Productions was founded in 2016 by Dunedin natives, producer H-J Kilkelly and playwright Emily Duncan. The company prides itself on delivering professionally developed and presented performance art (theatre, podcast, visual) and is home to the specialist playwright development platform Ōtepoti Theatre Lab, as well as the recently launched Ōtepoti Writers Lab.
