“Steelin’ the Sunset marries contemporary steel band flair with the natural beauty of the harbour.”
Welcome the change of seasons with the laidback groove of the country’s premier steel band, Steel’n Beats, set amidst the dramatic views of Tamaki Drive on Saturday September 5th.
For the “Steelin’ the Sunset” concert, Steel’n Beats weave together a range of hits adapted for the steel pan - vintage calypso, reggae, soul and modern pop - into a seductive and life-affirming whole.
An emerging Auckland institution, Steel'n Beats appeared in 2019 at the PANZfest in Brisbane, and in the recent worldwide Pan Rocks Quarantine Jam.
The Steelin’ the Sunset showcase will be filmed for posterity with the harbour as a backdrop - courtesy of the esteemed Royal Akarana Yacht Club, and bookended by eclectic Caribbean vinyl selections from DJ Revelator.
Tickets available via Eventbrite. (Please note that Eventbrite adds a processing fee of $1.97 per ticket)
