Summer In the Square: Tāmaki Makaurau Kapa Haka Regionals

On this weekend more than 500 of Tāmaki Makaurau’s best kapa haka performers will contend in a fierce competition to represent Auckland at the Te Matatini Traditional Māori Performing Arts Festival.

Inside the Aotea Centre will be epic performances and rivalry as current national champions Ngā Tumanako are challenged by former victors, Te Waka Huia and Te Roopu Manutaki in an intense battle of kapa haka.

Outside you can soak up the atmosphere in Aotea Square where there’ll be kai, waiata and the occasional surprise performance by some of Aotearoa’s top kapa haka performers.
