In partnership with The Press, Sport Canterbury invites people all ages from across New Zealand to gather in Christchurch for a very special event.
Cantabrians are known around the world for their resilience and sense of community. Given significant challenges our region has faced, this event encourages communities to join together as a sign of reflection and remembrance.
Each year, The Press Run to Remember has honoured the lives lost and affected by the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. In 2020, our sense of community has never been so important. Our opportunity to gather in Victoria Park takes on an even greater meaning.
The 10km course was originally chosen in 2012 for the opportunity it extends to all ages and abilities. Following an initial ascent from Victoria Park, the course meanders along the scenic Summit Road, descending Rapaki Track and ending at the event village in Hansen Park.
The outlook from Summit Road across the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps encourages reflection and remembrance.
