The world’s coolest little capital will once again come alive with a huge celebration of Pride, Love, Inclusion and Diversity.

There will be Dykes on Bikes. There will be drag performers. There will be floats from community groups, charities, our forces and corporates – all coming together to show off the glitz, glamour and glory of our community. There’ll also be 1000s of spectators lining the streets to witness this dazzling annual display of diversity.

2020 Parade Theme / Kaupapa – "Water; Dive into your Pride | Te wai; Tō Mana. Whakarukuhia!"

Water symbolises nourishment, life, motion, renewal, reflection, growth... so as we look to grow the Wellington International Pride Parade, we want you to grow with us. As well as the literal meaning of diving into water, 'dive' can also mean to immerse one's self fully into something you are passionate about. We want you to immerse yourself fully into your community and show your pride.

Community groups and workplaces can register their float or marching group at www.wipp.nz.

Spectators can join in the pre-parade entertainment, then line the streets to celebrate with the parade participants, and marvel at the diverse range of floats and walking groups.

The Wellington Pride Parade is part of Wellington's Pride Festival which runs from 21 Feb – 8 March 2020.

Anyone interested in participating or volunteering for the event, can register their interest on www.wipp.nz or email hello@wipp.nz.

The parade leaves from Tennyson Street at 6pm, moving along Courtenay Place, then turning into Taranaki Street, and ending at the waterfront – where the party will continue with more entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

A bit of rain won't rain on our parade, so it will go ahead, rain, wind or shine. After all, you can’t make a rainbow without a bit of rain.

This event couldn't happen without the support of Wellington City Council and our many sponsors and supporters.
