About the bands

Cumbia Blazera
Torn out of Wellington’s Sunday Football League ’Sunday Blazers’, “Cumbia Blazera” are a football club that play uptempo dancy music or maybe they are a band that plays uptempo fancy football.
Cumbia Blazera feature members from some of Wellington's most prominent bands and when they eventually got together they tapped into their Latin style of football and just started playing Cumbia music. Some say it was magic but others say it was probably the easiest music for them to all remember quickly!
Cumbia, for those yet to experience the ‘latest’ in Latin song and dance (the genre actually dates back to the 18th century), began as a courtship ritual among the slave population of Panama and Colombia, and is a mash-up of indigenous Indian, European, and African instrumentation and rhythms.
Every song is designed to help you catch the attention of that special somebody so if you have your eye on someone, get your peacock on and dazzle them with your hip swaying. There are lots of opportunities to sing along and lose yourself in the music so even if love is not on the horizon we guarantee you a party you won’t forget.

Banana Mundo
Banana Mundo is a collective of musicians from around the world. Members from Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, France, Switzerland, England and New Zealand bring together an infectious worldly mix of upbeat Latin and Afro Beat tunes.
Hailing from New Plymouth, the w(b)est coast of beautiful New Zealand, the band features French keysanova Severin Thiebaut on hot salsa flavoured keys, the brassiliant English tenor and soprano trombone player Tombone Roberts, local west coast kiwi legend Robin Wells on jazzy sax, genio de la guitarra (guitar genius) Andres Duran from Uruguay, the hottest accordion player in all of the west Naomi Kuttner, “máquina de percusionista” aka “the love rhythm” Argentinian percussionist Nico Paladini and the world's tallest man from Venezuela en la batería (on drums) Christian Jacobsoni Rangel.
The explosive 8 piece band Banana Mundo is fronted by the musical swiss army knife Andre Manella on bass, clave, percussion and lead vocal.
You can expect lots of dancing to this irresistible contagious mix of Latin and afro beat.

The Night Kitchen
It's their first gig in this incarnation so nobody knows really, but rumours are they will be featuring sultry soulful vocals, multi-instrumentialist talents, and even some surprise electro twists.
