Enjoy a gorgeous day at Gwavas Homestead and Garden with a sit down lunch and guided tour of the homestead, gardens and native bush. Hear the wonderful stories of Gwavas’ history and discover plantings dating back to the early 1900s, which still take prominence in the garden and surrounding bush today.
Gwavas is a place of impressive history and grandeur, and one of Central Hawke’s Bay’s iconic historic homesteads. Gwavas’ nine hectares of ‘Cornish Woodland Garden’ is a spectacle for all the senses, with azaleas, rhododendron, camelia and magnolia, beautiful birdlife and fragrances of the flowers in bloom.
Gwavas is also home to the incredible 132-hectare Puahanui Bush, a virgin bush Totara known to be more than 600 years old.
Gwavas Homestead and Garden Tour is a part of Central Hawke’s Bay Spring Fling. The Spring Fling is a series of standout events through September and October, capturing the essence of springtime in Central Hawke’s Bay! Spring is a stunning time of year in Central Hawke’s Bay and the Spring Fling is a wonderful showcase of the region.
