Introduction to Cold Wax Medium workshop with Anna Layzell

This is a different cold wax medium from Encaustic and in this four-day workshop we will examine what it is, how to start and how to use it.

We will cover how to mix cold wax effectively on your palette with charcoal, dry pigment, graphite and oil paint and test and practice these to achieve many effects and finishes.

Withdrawing materials, we will look at how they are enhanced and altered when used with cold Wax medium and what tools work for what effects.

We will experiment with exercises in additive and subtractive techniques, creating layers and textures with many different materials from bubble wrap to the corrugated card.

Our focus on working small will help you progress well and feel confident to experiment and play with cold wax medium in a supportive environment and above all have fun.
