Rural Games for pre-schoolers comes to Feilding Farmers Market. Kids will be able to get their hands dirty and get a taste of rural life when the country comes to town in Feilding on March 5th.

The Kids ‘n’ Country family event will take place at the Feilding Farmers Market on March 5 as part of the build up to the Ford Ranger New Zealand Rural Games.

Feilding and Districts Events Co-ordinator Vicki Wills said the event is specifically designed for pre-schoolers can take part in the rural sports on offer in Manchester Square.

“They can have a go at digging up sand in small HireWays digger, toss a gumboot, try hammering a nail into wood, ride pedal tractors, roll a hay bale, or get involved in the crowd favourite - the Tug o War,” Wills said.

“There’s something for everyone to try, it’s free, and there will be plenty of prizes up for grabs.”
Wills said there would also be displays, colouring competitions, sack races, face painting, giant games, and animals to pet.

New Zealand Rural Games Trust Chair Margaret Kouvelis said the children’s events were always a favourite.

“We are excited to be able to include Feilding in the Ford Ranger New Zealand Rural Games in 2021 by bringing these adventurous kids events here,” Kouvelis said.

“It’s a lot of fun and a great day out for families to give them a taste of the rural life that’s right here on our doorstep.”

The event has been made possible thanks to the Manawatū District Council, Feilding District & Promotions and with support from HireWays.

The Ford Ranger New Zealand Rural Games will take place in Te Marae o Hine, Palmerston North, from March 12 to 14.
