K'Road Presents: WWII Comes to Karangahape Road

Take an imaginative walk along Karangahape Road during World War II with authors Lynette and Bud Hedrick, and experience the history and images of K'Road in the forties.

Portrayed in their novel, ‘The Rigel Affair’, Lynette tells the story through the memories of her mother, Mattie, who worked at O’Hara’s Hair Academy on K’Road where she met a US Navy Diver called Charlie.

Set to toe-tapping ragtime music played by husband Bud, Lynette will take you back into the world of Zoot suits, bobby-soxers and milk bars – K’Road Style!
