Our Path to Sustainability - Initiatives for a more sustainable future
As the world recognises the need to plan and implement sustainability efforts, cities like Auckland are developing strategies aimed at promoting sustainability while also providing housing and amenities for its residents. Learning that governmental organisations are making efforts to facilitate more sustainable living is inspiring, but it is not only up to the organisations in the public sector to have an impact on the future of our planet.
At this panel we will hear from 3 experts from 3 very different backgrounds on what organisations and individuals can do to have a positive impact on our planet and be part of our path to a more sustainable future.
Helen Mahoney is a Sustainability and Resilience Advisor in the Chief Sustainability Office at Auckland Council. Helen’s role focuses on understanding and preparing Auckland for the transition to a zero-carbon and climate-resilient economy. Helen has a background in corporate sustainability which supports her work on Auckland Council’s response to climate change which includes the Council Group’s Climate Risk Disclosures.
Kat McDonald is a Sustainability Manager at Lion Breweries. Working on her role, Kat seeks to support Lion's sustainability efforts in New Zealand and overseas. Her focus is to deepen the connection between Lion's existing sustainability initiatives and the long-term goals of the business. Kat has extensive education on Sustainability and Environmental Management and has previously worked as an environmental consultant and Leader at Opus International and as a Compliance Officer at Auckland Council.
Ayla Irving-Lamb is a Network Coordinator at the Sustainable Business Network. As part of the SBN, Ayla works with businesses to create solutions to some of the biggest problems in New Zealand in the areas of climate, waste, and water. She is passionate about sustainability and the sense of community and purpose it brings. Ayla has a Bachelor of Business majoring in Sustainable Enterprise, and a Bachelor of Design majoring in Communication.
Join us on Thursday, May 27th - 5:30 PM at the RSM House, on 62 Highbrook Drive from 5.30 pm for drinks and nibbles, and an opportunity to network with other young professionals from the area. The presentation starts at 6:00 pm.
