The Drum (and dance) Festival is a weekend festival of rhythm and dance, entertainment and education based on Banks Peninsula. Being the only dedicated festival of the drum in New Zealand, it is a catalyst for the gathering of drum performers from throughout the South Island and beyond. Workshops on African. We are planning a programme which involves over 50 performers/tutors and 100 (due to Covid restrictions) participants and guests which is very family orientated. The festival is held in the relaxed space of Manaia Native Habitat where participants can also stay (Little River Campground in Okuti Valley, Banks Peninsula).

This year's festival includes Japanese Taiko, West African, Arabic, CSM Samba, Nelson Sambassadors, Robert Fugah Koffie from Ghana (drum and dance), Miro Klima, Ricardo Studani, Pablo Salas, Carlos Riegel and Doug Brush. Expect a stellar line up.
Some of you have been asking questions so we thought we'd share. BYO food + drinks as there may be no onsite catering. We hope to have food stalls, with drinks available. DOOR SALES are cash only. BE SUN SMART - bring sunblock, bottled water and togs for a dip in the river. Campsites are available. See you soon.
An updated calendar is being finalised as Robert Fugah Koffie can no longer make the event. He has to fly back to Ghana for a family matter. We'll miss him but have Miro Klima coming from up north to run the workshops. he's also very awesome!
