Come to the centre of the Golden Centre Mall on Friday 23 April from 11.30 am-12.30 pm to meet Suzy in person.

Department of Conservation will be there talking about Toyota Kiwi Guardians and giving out Project Gold kōwhai seed kits.

If you haven’t already got a copy of the festival programme pick one up when you say kia ora to Suzy Cato, Wild Dunedin's 2021 Festival guest.

Toyota Kiwi Guardians is an activity programme for kids and their families to learn about nature and earn cool rewards. This programme aims to build healthy, active and resilient children who are proud of New Zealand’s natural environment.

Why is Toyota Kiwi Guardians so cool?

- You can follow adventure maps and explore Kiwi Guardians sites.

- You can take actions in your backyard.

- You can attend special events.

- You can earn Kiwi Guardian medals.

So, do you want to join the other hundreds of future guardians of New Zealand? If yes, then discover a Toyota Kiwi Guardian action or adventure near you.

Fun Fact:
Did you know that since Wild Dunedin was created in 2013, 516 Wild Dunedin medals were given out to young explorers! With 18 medals on offer during the festival, now is your chance to become a young explorer too!

Rewild your Garden:
Sow your very own kowhai tree. Take a kõwhai seed kit home, plant and nurture until large enough to plant out in your garden and attract tūī and bellbirds to your place.

Kōwhai are easy to grow and can take as little as two years to develop from seedling to a plant large enough to put in the ground. They can flower within seven years. Easily grown from seed as long as the seed coat is abraded with sandpaper.
