AKL HERITAGE FESTIVAL: In the footsteps of Hochstetter

Join geologist, author and Waitākere’s historian Bruce Hayward on a guided tour following in the footsteps of ‘the father of New Zealand geology’, Ferdinand von Hochstetter.
In 1859 he travelled by boat from Onehunga along the northern shore of the Manukau Harbour stopping at Big Muddy Creek, Cornwallis and Huia. The tour will visit all three localities and examine what Hochstetter saw in the geology and kauri timber industry during his visit.
Participants will need their own vehicle to travel to the tour and between sites.

ALL WELCOME, NO BOOKINGS, FREE. The tour will proceed no matter what the weather.
