Balinese Gamelan Semara and Dance

With more than 30 performers, this will be a showcase of Mekar Bhuana Aotearoa’s students from community courses they have been running this year at Miramar and Maupuia Community Centre. As well as a professional solo dance performance by world-renowned Balinese dancer Putu Evie, you can also join in the flash-mob Balinese dance by her students.

This will be a historic event by Mekar Bhuana Aotearoa and NZIA (New Zealand Indonesia Association) since Balinese gamelan music and dance has never before been performed at the Wellington Railway Station. In fact, this type of Balinese gamelan music has never heard before in Aotearoa!
