Join this basic ring making class for an introduction to the ancient craft of jewellery making, while designing and crafting your own ring from sterling silver which you will take home with you at the end of your class. During this workshop you will learn the following:
- how to design and measure the size of your ring;
- use a jeweller's saw to cut straight and curved lines in the metal ;
- use a blowtorch to anneal and solder the metal;
- learn different shaping and texturing techniques;
- experiment with brushed and shiny metal polishing ;
- add a patina to give your finished ring an antique look.
Options or rings that you can design and make in this class are:
- personalised name stamped ring (add the names of your loved ones on the inside or outside of your ring)
- hammered textured ring
- domed ring
- stacking rings (3 separate rings to form a stack)
