After a successful Pōneke season, award winning comedy, Community, is coming to Tāmaki Makaurau.

Sleepy old Tirau is about to have a wake up call. The annual jamboree is only two weeks away and the sheep haven’t been sheared, the decorations are mouldy, and the public toilets are flooded… again. Jo Walker, community leader (and botherer) has called an emergency meeting, but the fellow committee members Steve and Johann are less than helpful. Steve is (as usual) confused, not only by jamboree politics but by the concept of fatherhood. And Johann would rather write mediocre poems about death. (And his devotion to late boyfriend and serial sleepwalker Nigel Newy.) Determined, confused, and somewhat absurd, this trio have their work cut out. Will their differences drive them apart and jeopardise the jamboree, or will they pull their act together? Join the meeting and find out!

A delightful and heartfelt queer comedy drama about love, family, and embracing change. An entertaining and timely solo that explores the importance of community in all of our lives.

“An absolute delight and a shining example of how magical and effective theatre can be with only a whiteboard, some chairs and a skilled performer.” -Audience testimony, Wellington Fringe 2022.

“Flawless” -Audience testimony, Wellington Fringe 2022.

Winner of the NZ Fringe Festival’s Auckland Tour Ready Award 2022.

Written by Emma Barrett, and directed by award winning comedian Sameena Zehra.
