This special event marks 100 years since the first steam passenger train pulled into Waiuku township in 1922.
Glenbrook Vintage Railway will be running a special service at 11am from Glenbrook station to Waiuku station for a re-enactment of the 1922 opening ceremony at 12pm.
This iconic railway attracts visitors from all over the country to experience a unique journey back in time.
Bring the family along for a fun day to celebrate, learn about the history, see the re-enactment and maybe take a train ride!
Bring a picnic blanket and take in a unique experience in this lovely town. Why not dress up in 1920s or steampunk style?

10.30AM - 2.30: Historical display, Open air market, Sunset Coast Big Band, Kids entertainment, Face painting, Food trucks and treats, Vintage Cars.
At 12PM a re-enactment ceremony will be held at Victoria Ave station.
From 1PM: Steam train rides to Pukeoware station, including a workshop tour, with Glenbrook Vintage Railway, 50 minutes return. $15 per person.
PARKING available next door in the old New World car park, entry to car park from Kitchener Rd or Victoria Ave.
This is a Glenbrook Vintage Railway event, supported by Franklin Local Board, Waiuku Cosmopolitan Club and Waiuku Business & Development Association.

WAIUKU AGRICULTURAL & MACHINERY MUSEUM at Kitchener Rd right next door to this event. WAIUKU MUSEUM at 13 King St, next to Tamakae reserve. Two incredible museums, well worth a visit!
VILLAGE SHOPPING is just a short stroll away, where you'll find a truly unique variety of gorgeous gifts, shoes, clothing and homewares on offer. Pause for a coffee or some lunch at one of the cafes or visit the historic KENTISH HOTEL, the oldest continuously licensed hotel in NZ.
VINTAGE BIKES FOR HIRE, catering for all ages and infants, from The VIEW on Tamakae Reserve. Follow the easy going Waiuku estuary trail or Heritage trail through town, and even take one of their lovely picnic hampers. So much to do in this great little town!
