Shakespeare Naturally ~ Quoting Shakespeare florally

Shakespeare had something to say about most things around in his day. Flowers feature frequently.
A rose but by any other name… is one of his best known…though not everyone knows the double…or triple entendre that lies within.
In the midst of the Wellington City Council’s Spring Festival, Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) is presenting Shakespeare Naturally, strategically ‘planting’ six actors around the Botanic Gardens.

Between 10am and 11am and 12.15 and 1.15pm they will spout forth with quotes and quips from his plays, poems and sonnets. For half an hour from 11.15am and 1.30pm the public are invited to join them as they gather on the lawn in front of Soundshell to act out the scenes from whence the quotes came. Cue scripts will be available for those who want to be involved; others sit back and enjoy Shakespeare florally. Bring a picnic, sit and listen, or stay for just a few minutes.

Originally planned as the finale event for SGCNZ’s 30th Anniversary last year, Covid caused its hibernation till now. Family-friendly and fun for all ages.
