In Chinese culture, the lion symbolises power, wisdom, and superiority with lion dancing bringing good fortune, prosperity, and good luck.
Join the Otago Southland Chinese Association Lion Dance Team as they unite with Christchurch’s Qiao Yi Hong De Lion Dance Team and Auckland’s Tung Tek Lion Dance Team as they share the art of lion dancing and drumming with the Dunedin community.
Performances start outside Lan Yuan at 8am and will last approximately 45 minutes. Attendees are then invited to visit Lan Yuan free of charge 8.45am–10am to meet the lions and explore the garden.
