Come, rest your weary feet in the luxurious Adam Room at Longwood, after a day's delight of touring South Wairarapa's most beautiful gardens on the Pukaha Wairarapa Garden Show!

Featherston Booktown is delighted to offer you the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine in the exclusive ambiance of Longwood and listen to renowned photographer Jane Ussher and her publisher discuss the fascinating interiors that burst from the pages of Jane’s sumptuous new book, Rooms: Portraits of Remarkable New Zealand Interiors.

Jane Ussher MNZM is one of New Zealand’s most significant documentary and portrait photographers. Trained in photography at the then Wellington Polytechnic, she spent 29 years as the chief photographer for the New Zealand Listener magazine. Now she freelances for magazine and book publishers and in partnerships with authors.

“Over the years Jane has shot interiors ranging from Shackleton’s Antarctic huts to highly specified mansions. In Rooms: Portraits of Remarkable New Zealand Interiors Jane focuses her camera on a range of rooms that she considers to be beautiful, intriguing, distinctive, and unique. Shot in a range of locations across New Zealand, the result is a mix of World of Interiors and the special panache that can only be found in Aotearoa.”

Nicola Legat ONZM is a New Zealand publisher and journalist and is currently the Publisher at Massey University Press. She was Publishing Director of Random House New Zealand and is the Chair of the New Zealand Book Awards Trust and Deputy Chair of the Auckland Writers Festival. She knows her way around books and publishing like Jane Ussher knows her way around a camera.

The gates to Longwood will open at 4:00 PM for parking. When you enter the Adam Room inside Longwood's main doors, you will have a chance to purchase a delicious glass of wine from Big Sky Wines - a vineyard on Te Muna Road in Martinborough. Mela apple juice or sparkling water will also be available for sale. Join us for complimentary pre-dinner snacks at the grazing table which features hand-crafted cheese from award-winning Remutaka Pass Cheeses and admire the stage set by the fabulous proprietors of Wicked Secrets Emporium - an interior design store to die for, housed in the former Tin Hut building in Tauherenikau.

The conversation with Jane Ussher and Nicola Legat will start at 5:00 PM start – 6:00 PM
