Blowout Comedy

After fleeing Scotland, Ryan McGhee plonked his fabulous gay ass in Sydney. This would be his new home. Anything was possible!

Within a few years Ryan was blessed with an amazing marriage. The divorce came a few months later. Determined not to be left on the shelf, Ryan tried every tactic from speed dating to matchmakers - nothing was working. It was time for a new chapter in New Zealand - surely it couldn't be that different from Australia or Scotland...?
Join Ryan to hear about his (mis)adventures in Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as some "highlights" from his (still) ongoing search for love.

Reviews:
“A strong performer with a likeable persona and bubbly energy…McGhee leaves me in stitches. This show strikes me as a Netflix special cutting its teeth” - Art Murmurs
“Offers plenty of whimsical insights and good laughs” - Theatreview
“The best example of what Fringe festival is all about…an hour of quality stand-up comedy and a great hour’s entertainment…hilariously smutty gay jokes and a disarming ability to tell a great story” - Regional News

Awards:
Winner of "Best Newcomer, Lower North Island" at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards 2021
Nominated for "Best Newcomer" at the Wellington Comedy Awards 2021

Ryan will be joined by special guest Dan Brader. Dan is an NZ comedy veteran who’s developed a unique and controversial place in the Kiwi/Aus comedy landscapes as a one-of-a-kind performer known for his brutally scathing gags and raw, confessional, eyebrow-raising storytelling. He began his career in Australia in 2007 and has performed all over Australia (basing himself in Perth and Melbourne) and his home country of NZ in comedy clubs, festivals, open mic venues etc. If there’s a stage he’s probably performed on it. He's also done three solo tours of NZ. Brader is a fiercely independent and cerebral voice in the NZ/Aussie comedy landscape with a style that combines brutally funny observational and topical material, free-wheeling, wildly raw storytelling, lacerating self-deprecation, and moments of inspired off-the-cuff improvisation that can go anywhere, so much so they even take him by surprise.

Also we have Irish comedy sensation Sean Tinker who's gigged all over NZ and has become a crowd favourite!
