We present a free night of experimental, ambient and noise acts at Darkroom, from 8pm on 24th Nov. Featuring the return of some of our favourite acts; Subatomic Therapy, and Abandoned Carparks.

Subatomic Therapy is another creative venture undertaken by West Yorkshire born L.R.Scott. Initially a visual project it soon became clear that sound should enter the fold with Manipulated acoustic instruments, monophonic synthesis, 6 string electric guitar as well as field recordings from recent and not so recent travels. Certain features become drawn out with the aide of digital delay and reverberation amongst other sound manipulation devices.

Abandoned Carparks:
You like Les Rallizes Dénudés? Their early work was a little too psychedelic for my taste. But when Takashi Mizutani Mizutani came out in '91, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a muddy, grainy sound, and the aesthetics of a field recording that really gives the songs a big boost. They've been compared to The Velvet Underground, but I think Takashi Mizutani Mizutani has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour. In '02, Les Rallizes Dénudés released this; Heavier Than a Death in the Family, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Night Of The Assassins". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of murder and the pains of hunger. It's also a personal statement about the band itself.
