The Wanaka Concert Society proudly presents vocal ensemble Tokowhā in partnership with Chamber Music New Zealand. Featuring beloved arias and musical theatre favourites, the voice quartet’s uplifting programme also includes beautiful waiata and pese.
Tokowhā’s four voices first came together in 2020 when the group’s original members met at the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī. Drawn to each other by their shared love of signing, the gentlemen of Tokowhā are also aligned in their stylistic choices.
The charismatic ensemble enjoys bringing accessible, fresh, and diversified programmes to audiences across the motu – fusing classics from the operatic repertoire to Broadway songs, and jazz standards to Māori and Pasifika music.
For the South Island leg of their nationwide tour, Lila Crichton, Matt Barris, and Tomairangi Henare are joined by Alfred Fuimaono, who lends his rich baritone voice to the ensemble. Alex Jefferies brilliantly completes the ensemble by accompanying the group on the piano.
